Birth Control Woes

Since I'm pretty sure that 99.99999 percent of the people that read my blog are female I have no problem talking about this. For the .0000001 that are male, I'm sorry if this gets a little uncomfortable, but it's always good to know about these things to help you relate to any females in your life.

My birth control made me crazy. Not Britney shaving her head crazy, more like Daisy De La Hoya weepy crazy. I started on TriNessa (a generic form of Ortho) about 5 months ago. All seemed fine and dandy for the first month or two. Then the breakouts started happening.

Some people may hate me for this... but I have never had any problems with acne. Ever. One of the only things I am very grateful for during my teenage years. I may have never grown any boobs, but at least I never had a zit either. But now all of a sudden I had one. Then two. Now it's just gotten crazy. Like a party on my chin. One showed up and invited all his little buddies and I'm going through foundation and other types of cover up faster than I'm going through cream cheese. And I love cream cheese.

On top of all this drama with my skin I've been crying at everything. I cry at commercials, fuzzy animal videos, when I can't find my shoe or when Dallas and his mom got eliminated from The Amazing Race. I cried when the live feed cam puppies started leaving to go to their new homes.

I started dating my new guy right in the middle of all this. I try telling him all the time that I don't usually act like this, I don't always cry during NCIS, but I guess it doesn't really matter since he's still with me anyway. I switch to another prescription this week and am looking forward to not having to wake up and run to the bathroom to put spackle on my chin before my sweetie wakes up.

I just wish I had figured out what the problem was earlier. It's hard to be the tough macho girl that I usually am when I'm crying over a Folgers commercial.

Why do women always tell me I'm .0000001% of a man?

I loathe taking birth control. But, since I also don't want babies, it's a must. Have you looked into the Nuva Ring? I have been on that for over a year. So nice not to have to remember to take a pill everyday. It hasn't affected my mood as much as some of the others I've been on. Hope the new one works out for you!

Oh no! I just changed pills and it was kind of awkward when I told my doctor I thought that my old one was making me fat and she looked at me and I was thinking, "Oh crap - she's onto me. She thinks it's nothing to do with the old pill and everything to do with my terrible overeating of carbs."
Although my new pill leaves me feeling less bloated so maybe I was right after all...

I hope you get everything sorted out with that.

I hate being an emotional wreck like that. It sucks monkey butt. (hehe that rhymed a little bit..well not really but kinda).

Hi there -- I like your blog! :)

I swear a man must have invented birth control pills.

I'm like that a lot of the time as well, I think I will look into changing my pill at some point. I'd actually like NOT to have to take it as I think it does me no favours with all those hormones, but the alternatives aren't all that great!

1. I loved those puppies. like--obsessively loved them. I feel okay about the fact that you cried over them.
2. I feel your BC troubles. It's a pain in the ass to find the right one. It's taken me 6 years to finally find one that doesn't give me a gift from aunt flo twice a month. Glad you figured it out!

A great friend of mine had the same thing happen on her BC...I'd say tell your doctor, and see if there are other options. If you can swing it, I HIGHLY recommend the ring! :)

Oooooh yeah. BC side effects. We've all been there. I would keep trying until you find one you like. It might be a pain in the ass to keep switching, but it sure beats crying all the time, acne colonies on your chin, gaining 40 pounds in 2 weeks, or flatlining sex drive.

Hi, I just came across your blog after you commented on my dear friend littlesack's blog and I just ADORE you! What a great blog you have!!

I had the same problem with birth control. It was horrific actually. Some months I would be fine - and others...goodness....you would think I was having a complete mental breakdown!!! I was on the ring - which happened to be the birth control that had the least amount of negative things associated with it!
